BACKGROUND

Dr. Suraiya Akter Jemy is a public health researcher and physician whose work sits at the intersection of reproductive, maternal, newborn and child health (RMNCH), gender equity, and climate change. With over eight years of experience across research, policy, and humanitarian practice, she brings a rare combination of frontline clinical insight and advanced epidemiological expertise to address the most pressing health risks facing women and children in climate-vulnerable settings.

Her career spans maternal and SRHR service delivery in humanitarian contexts, district-level  VPDs surveillance leadership with the World Health Organization, RMNCH program management with Save the Children, and technical consultancy for UNFPA on gender-based violence in emergencies and climate-related risk mitigation.

Currently a Senior Lecturer in Public Health at Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB), Dr. Suraiya  drives applied research that converts public health data into gender- and climate-responsive evidence, informing policies, programs, and investments that protect women’s and children’s health.
